If you ever thought you might like to sing....

sing!

The Skylarks isn't your average choir singing the standard choir fare.....

We are a community based and community run choir for everyone- from the age of 10 to 110 you'll be welcome!

No auditions- we believe that with support and encouragement everyone can have fun singing!

We rehearse in Berkeley, Gloucestershire, but we believe community is about caring, about holding out your hands and welcoming, so we currently have members from both Berkeley, villages around it, as well as Cam, Dursley and further afield. So if you can get to us for rehearsals, you're welcome!

summer singing

Why should singing stop in the summer?

Well we decided we didn't want to stop, so over the summer we're having our practices at the Salutation Inn, in Ham, very close to Berkeley.
First rehearsal is 28th July at 7.15. Just turn up and ask for the Skylarks. We'll probably be in the skittles alley!

£3 as session.

a wonderful concert and some fabulous rehearsals

First of all I apologise for being so tardy with keeping things up to date!

We have just had a wonderful concert at Coaley Village Hall, where the choir shared the stage with students of Time to learn Piano. A set of gospel, a capella songs and some pop songs accompanied by guitar and keyboard were very well received.

We're now preparing for the first summer season. Over the summer we'll be rehearsing and singing at the Salutation Inn in Berkeley, and then return to the Town Hall in September.

There is a great line up of music for us to work on over the next few months, including jazz, folk songs and contemporary versions of some older songs and carols, for the Christmas season.

Everyone is always welcome at the choir, it's a friendly place to come, where you will be made very welcome. We always have a break for tea and cake (today's millionaire's shortbread, thanks Marie, was amazing!) and I guess at the pub over the summer, it'll be a liquid break too!

In the winter we try to go and sing at local nursing and old age homes as well as sing at the Christmas concert at Coaley Village Hall. In the past we have sung for the Dursley Lions and Berkeley WI, and are always interested in requests to sing.

new term!

It was great seeing you all yesterday at the start of the new term. We're looking forward to singing some songs you already know, and some you don't and getting them tip top for our performance at the Coaley Village Hall in June.

I'm delighted that some of you also have decided to go to the Colston Hall in Bristol to see Gareth Malone and his choir. I for one am really excited about this- one of my heroes, I can't wait (but I have to... till December!) to see him live!

We would love to welcome new singers, so please do encourage your friends to come along, and have a go.

Good singing!
